Since it was the best way to get the best quality finish in all rooms of this project I decided to divide the house into sections, while trying to be as accomadating as possible to the customers. The first day I masked the Master Bathroom, Water Closet, Master Bathroom, And Hallway. I then sprayed out the ceilings (Semi Gloss in the bathroom and water closet, Flat in the master bedroom and Hallway). I sprayed all the doors and baseboards in those sections as well before finishing for the day so that they would be ready to have the baseboards masked off in the morning and rolling could begin. After the second day I was able to foll out 2 coats of semi gloss in the bathrooms and two coats of eggshell in the master bedroom and hallway, all while working around the customers furniture and containing my dust as much at possible. The third day I was able two do two coats of the brush work in the semi gloss rooms and the eggshell rooms, and down to the end of the hallway. I then cleaned up all my masking and drop cloths and touched up my baseboards before moving out of the area.
I was able to keep up this pace and complete about 3 rooms worth of work every 3 days, until I made it to the living and dining room which took a total of 5 days to complete (1 day to maske and spray the ceilings and baseboards, and then another 2.5 days to roll out the walls and 2.5 days to cut in against all the ceilings and trim). I was then able to clean up all my masking and start moving out my equipment so that the customers could start moving their furniture back into place.
Lastly I was hired to spray the fireplace with a High quality, durable eggshell sheen, which came out looking beautifully. Then came time to mask the bookcase areas. Luckily I have a couple sets of spring loaded poles that makes creating a plastic wall to isolate a room from any spraying that I used to my advantage. I then prepped the book shelf on the right as well as used a grain filler, before sanding it and priming it with two coats of shellac, sanding between coats, and then spraying two coats of Gemini EVO Eclipse industrial cabinet coating as my finish coat. The bookcase on the left of the fireplace as well as we cabinet in the hall took a bit more work because the customer decided to try and paint them herself as a DIY project. There were many paint runs, brush strokes, and stippling from the roller that was used that had created a texture on the doors due to improper roller technique and using a paint that probably tried too fast on her. It all had to be sanded smooth before I could prime to give myself a blank canvas and then sand and spray my two coats of Gemini EVO Eclipse.
It only took about 2 days to complete the built in bookcase units, which I was then able to clean up all of my masking and remove all my equipment from the customers house. I did however take the doors, drawer faces, and shelving units with my back to my workshop to continue to prep, grain fill, sand out the DIY imperfections, as well as prime and topcoat. Before loading them back up in the truck a few days later to deliver and reinstall in the customers home.
I am very happy with the way this project turned out, as were the customers. I made daily goals for myself and was able to stay on track and deliver a high quality project while still giving the customers very little inconvenience. They where so happy with the work they have called me back to do some work on their exterior when the weather improves.
